Are you a new friend? Or just a stranger? Either way, if you are a singlet, here is our own self-written plural rundown. Just the basics of what it means, what it's like for us and what it means for you. All systems are different, this is just our perspective.
A plural person/s is any body that houses more than one self, if we had to put it simple. But it can get more complex than that, of course. For us, we view our body as more of a place rather than a thing we "have". We live in it, we suppose we "have" it, and it is "ours", but we don't particularly identify with it. It's just a place we ended up!
In our brain, there's several people. We can switch in and out of control of the body, this mechanism is important to know about! "Switching" is an incredibly important part of everyday life for us and many other systems. It's possible for us to switch whenever we want, but not all systems are like that. For us, we dislike switching too much in a single day. We tend to work in structured shifts of two days at a time for the main fronters ("Fronting" is being in control of the body). That's just enough time to engage in hobbies, but not too long where the fronter will get stressed.
We talk to each other! Usually, when you meet someone new, you only have to worry about one person and their relationships with others in the meat world. But if you meet a system like us, you are somewhat signing up for quite a few more relationships. Our inner-system relationships evolve and change over time, and may effect our moods, just like relationships with meat world friends. And just because one of us is friends with you, doesn't mean everyone is!
Being a system, and being friends with a system, isn't anything crazy. Just like a singlet, we're people. Be respectful, and even if you don't understand everything or anything, as long as you take us seriously, all will be well forever!
