Fangames We Like Human Spirit Agency ~ A Salvageable Tragedy As fans of good character writing, this game is one of our favorite Touhou fangames. Any fangame that can immerse us into the world and characters of Touhou in a similar way to the print works instantly becomes a favorite. They're rarer than you think... Anyway, this game is in the style of Ace Attorney and a game called Juusei to Diamond, and it's free. It's a mystery with lots of turnabouts that make you go "Whaaat? Seriously...!". If you like Seija, Youmu, Aya, and Hifuu, we really recommend it. It's an RPGmaker game, but most of its gameplay is visual novel clicking through text and then the cross examination segments. Be warned: some of those segments are totally bullshit, so if you get stuck, Asprey Archive has his streams of the game up. Unlike most Touhou content, both fan and official, this game includes actual murder and death. Oh, what we would do for more serious Touhou mystery games!!!
Touhou Rhythm Carnival This one is for the Rhythm Heaven fans! This is a classic Touhou fangame. It's basically just a RH fangame with a Touhou skin and with Touhou music, all of the microgames are original. The art style is so iconic that it makes us nostalgic just looking at it... There isn't much to say about this game other than the fact that it's good. It can also offer a good challenge, so even non Touhou fans who like Rhythm Heaven should check it out.
Touhou Puppet Dance Performance It's like Pokemon, but now it's Touhou. In this game you control "puppets" of Touhou characters, and it has its own type systems and stuff; it's not a rom hack. We played it long ago, so we can't tell you much more than at the time, we thought it was fun. The art style, like TRC, is extremely iconic and recognizable within the fandom.
it's just so good. So good!
Moyashi Monogatari This game is... seriously weird. It's been a long time since we played it, so we don't remember everything, but we remember it being very fun. It's a parody of multiple games, and it's kind of a trip. It's extremely Japanese with its humor and if you are familiar with a lot of different games, you'll enjoy seeing them parodied here. Our clearest memories are of the Kirby 64 parody and the stage full of almost naked men that scream when you kill them? I think? Worth a playthrough! No story content, just strangeness with a Touhou skin. Also free.
Touhou Mystia's Izakaya This game is very popular. It's paid, but not very expensive! Mystia's Izakaya has a gorgeous pixel art style that has basically infiltrated the fandom at this point, many people use the sprites from this game in their videos or other content. The translation isn't the best, so we find ourselves not being very immersed by the dialogue. However, the 'vibes' of this Gensokyo are really good. The music and art bring it together to make you feel relaxed in this fantasy world. The gameplay is that of a simple restaurant management game. Sadly, it's not really stimulating enough for us, so we usually get bored after around 30-50 minutes of play per session. The gameplay isn't really that in depth, but it's fun to make the right dishes for the special guests. We haven't finished this game and probably won't, but for 7 dollars you can get a lot out of it, and we're just happy to see Mystia get her own game.
Welcome to the 'Other Stuff' section of this shrine. It may become rambly as always... We first became interested in Touhou around late 2020. We were preteens at the time. Sadly, we can't recall exactly what led us to Touhou. When we first became fans, our main way of learning about Touhou was through a streamer named AspreyFM. We had infinite free time during the pandemic, so we watched his vods all day long. The ones we liked the most were the Touhou GTA vods and the Touhou Soccer vods. But of course, we watched a lot of other stuff. Eventually, we tried out a lot of the games. Like most people, we started off with Touhou 6. I think we only ever got as far as Patchouli. We were never very good at Touhou and since our skill has degraded, we're even worse now! We have only ever 1CC'd Imperishable Night on normal, and we can't recall our lives setting so take that with a grain of salt. We have tried many of the games and played Touhou 18 when it released. Our stance on "can you be a Touhou fan without playing the games?" is... well, yeah. As people who have played the games, we think it's ok to not be really invested in them. SHMUPs are hard and not everyone has time to get good. We know we don't have that kind of time anymore. We do think that someone should at least look at some official media though, or else you are just a fan of the fandom which is... not the best in our opinion. Touhou has several print works we are big fans of. Forbidden Scrollery, the Hifuu CDs, and Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red are our favorites! We are working on collecting all of the physical Forbidden Scrollery manga.

Fumos were really popular at the time, so of course we bought some. We have three. They're ok. Tenshi's the best for sure. We have also played Touhou Spell Bubble which is very expensive for not a lot of game. Don't buy it, okay. It's not an official game, but its made by a large company. Seriously, we only bought it because it had one Akatsuki song...and then we bought a DLC for more Akatsuki... Akatsuki Records played a large part in our Touhou integration. Their music is great, and STACK has such a unique voice.
Our probably ultimate favorite Touhou character is Marisa Kirisame. She's just awesome and a certified #friend character. Back in the day, we really liked the Taoists, Kyouko and Mystia, and of course the DDC duo. ok wip wip wip wip yaeaa
